Thats unfair - I I thought it was PANTHER 63 vs INSPECTOR, in which case I do prefer the original. But I accidently vote the 2006 abomination.
Its Arkin's Clouseau for me...

I would LOVE to see something like that! Can you do it?

Yep. A SHOT is the best introductory chapter. It works everytime I use to introduce Panther to my friends.
THEN, I show them all the rest. Very nice, indeed.

I'm the one with TRAIL ending. Sure, not a great film, but the best-of Clouseau clips really make this film worthwile. Its an excellent tribute to a classic, comedy icon. Worthy of Sellers, really.
To Peter... The One and Only Inspector Clouseau.

I agree with brandon. In the VHS copy, by the time the cartoon Clouseau shoots, dialogue stops and music is heard. I was also surprised to hear more Sellers in REVENGE. Pleasently so, though. More Clouseau from Sellers can never hurt.

A SHOT. Although both are equal, IMO. Only STRIKES AGAIN is better, really (IMO, again).
Anyway, A SHOT again...

Is there a question about it? SON... Oh, I mean A SHOT A SHOT IN THE DARK is one of the best comedies of all time, Peter Sellers' best performance as Inspector Clouseau, and the penultimate Pink Panther movie. The 2006 MARTIN'S TRAVESTY EDITION is a disgrace, and its a shame that such movie got made... So, A SHOT for me.

REURN for me, too. I like REVENGE too, but RETURN wins out because of the obvious energy Sellers brings into the role in RETURN. I love this movie so much.
So, RETURN here..

Well, Kline WAS considered for Clouseau, but Kline I think didn't want to.
But I remain convinced he would've been BRILLIANT had he had the right script and direction. Hasn't anyone seen A FISH CALLED WANDA? His Otto, slightly changed, is Clouseau! Perfect, I tell you.
Steve Martin is really a ridiculous replacement of a comedy legend's wonderful creation.

Well it IS connected, Dreyfus. Yet it still, even being the worst of the classic series, this film still vaguely remind of a Pink Panther film, more so than the 2006 TRAVESTY.
And Christopher Beck's score was nothing special. At least Mancini had a theme for Sleigh (great theme), and a great 80's take on the PP Theme. Mancini rules Beck, period.
And I thought Kline was definetely miscast. He should've been Clouseau, and not Dreyfus. As Dreyfus he seems stiff and uninterested, and I have seen many films starring Kline to understand the difference. At least Lom was fun, not that great, but fun...

Roger Moore's bit was fantastic, but it's the hour of Ted Wass i can't put up with! Me too, but I also can't put up with Martin's hysterical and unfunny Clouseau - he's literally awful. Plus, you still have Blake Edwards as the writer/director and a Henry Mancini score, which are pretty considerable advantages. Both films aren't that good. But the above, and a real reunion of Niven-Wagner-Capucine is a goof thing. So CURSE for me, all the way...

CURSE OF THE PINK PANTHER. By far....
Edwards and Mancini - 'nuff said.
And I'll take Roger Moore (a truly funny actor, and a wonderful personality) as a surgically altered Clouseau over Steve Martin's pretentious and just plain unlikeable Clouseau any day of the week and TWICE on Sunday.

SHOT is objectively speaking the best PP film ever. Not my favorite (STRIKES AGAIN is), but SHOT is a close runner-up. Everything is just in top form, and Sellers has never been a better Clouseau than here.
