I just saw "Count Dracula" from 1970 with Christopher Lee, Klaus Kinski, and Herbert Lom the other day. Aside from this film, so far I've only seen Mr. Lom in his Pink Panther films... You should see The Ladykillers. Stars Herbert Lom, Alec Guiness, and Peter Sellers. Very good film.

I'm drawing a blank on this one. Can't say I remember it from any of the shorts, and definitely not in the animated sequences of the films. The closest thing I could think of is the special A Pink Christmas, where it's Christmastime, and the Pink Panther is wandering around the city because he's hungry, looking for something to eat. I don't remember him actually going to a soup kitchen, though, so I dunno.

"The Artist" proves that a silent feature-length film can still work, but it's still gonna take some real creativity to make it interesting enough to hold an audience's attention for so long... that's why the shorts were genius - because they were short enough and funny enough that they could be silent and not lose their audience... I agree with you. There’s an old saying “keep it simple, stupid.” The simpler a short is the more it can reach a broader audience. After all we live in a Tech era. I think the Pink Panther in its own way is quite unique. Because, after all is timeless, and it transients nationalities. Not only do we live in the tech age, but we also live in an ADD / check-your-phone-every-3-minutes / quick cuts and quick jokes kind of world...

This year, it appears that there is a new Pink Panther Christmas special being aired on ABC Family channel.
You may have seen the 1978 "A Pink Christmas", where the Pink Panther is trying to find warmth and food during the Christmas season, but "A Very Pink Christmas" appears to be something new.
Here's the official description in TV Guide: Check your local listings.

i'm not sure the all-French Pink Panther would be a great idea - you would lose a lot on the character's mispronunciations, at the least - but i hear what you're saying...
nice to see you around!
btw, i have heard several rumors that they are making a 4th Austin Powers movie... like you, i just can't picture it... i don't know what they could do that would seem new enough to make me want to see it... but we'll see!
