"The Artist" proves that a silent feature-length film can still work, but it's still gonna take some real creativity to make it interesting enough to hold an audience's attention for so long... that's why the shorts were genius - because they were short enough and funny enough that they could be silent and not lose their audience... I agree with you. There’s an old saying “keep it simple, stupid.” The simpler a short is the more it can reach a broader audience. After all we live in a Tech era. I think the Pink Panther in its own way is quite unique. Because, after all is timeless, and it transients nationalities. Not only do we live in the tech age, but we also live in an ADD / check-your-phone-every-3-minutes / quick cuts and quick jokes kind of world...
