I was just wondering what everyone thinks TPP2 will be better than the first or a lot worse.
I know its rare for a sequel to top the first but I think this one looks so much better (from what I've read). The cast looks fantastic and I'm excited at seeing Cleese as Dreyfus.
I know its difficult to say at this point though.

I don't know that I'm really expecting TPP2 to do better than the last one, but I'm certainly hoping it will.

Better than the first. Cleese as Dreyfus is a good election.

Hopefully better than the first. The script is definitely funnier, but its still the new series and not trying too hard to ape the original. So there's no disappointment, there is much less Dreyfus and Ponton this time around. The expanded cast of characters doesn't really allow for it.

How were you able to get yourself a copy of the script?

That's good you liked it, colonel. There does seem to be a lot of new additions to the regular cast, so i guess it would be difficult to fit a lot of Dreyfus/Ponton stuff in.

Phantom Pictures, forgive my rudeness for not responding sooner. While copies of scripts do circulate, if they are shared before a film is released, studios tend to get quite litigious and with good reason. In this instance, a very funny film wraps shooting in the Fall of 2007 and sits on the shelf for over a year waiting for its February 2009 release date. If too many copies of the script circulate, some of the best moments can easily work their way into lesser films that are turned around quickly (think Direct to DVD fodder). Additionally, TPP06 suffered from so much bad word of mouth from test screenings, numerous reshoots, and online rants that it was better to keep things largely quiet on TPP2 until it was ready to be unveiled. Hopefully they have a huge hit on their hands and we can hope for TPP3 in 2012. Steve Martin is attached to two other films after this one so a sequel has a bit of a wait. In the meantime a couple of us from this board continue to defend the film on imdb and get labelled as studio shills for trying to be reasonable by the ignorant masses. Such is life.
