25 years ago, the Pink Panther found love in the arms of a pink panthress in this 25-minute prime-time TV special...
i recently obtained a used VHS copy of this program, and my wife and i sat through it just tonight... i wouldn't say that it's as interesting as the early Panther cartoons, but it's definitely more amusing than several of those from the late '70s... for Panther completists, like myself, you'll want to see it at least once, and i can honestly say that i can see myself watching it again in the future...
for those of you who don't own Pink Panther cartoons on DVD, the VHS also contains 4 of the theatrical shorts (Psychedelic Pink, Super Pink, The Hand is Pinker Than the Eye, and Pink Pranks)...
below is my synopsis of the events of Pink at First Sight...
SPOILERS
it's Valentine's Day, and as the Pink Panther walks down the street, all he sees are loving couples... to make a long story short, the Panther takes a job delivering Valentine's gifts, and his imagination occassionally takes over, turning women into pink panthresses in his mind... his imagination ends up getting him into trouble a few times, but at the end of the night, he finally finds the panthress of his dreams, and they run off together...
and as we all know, they must have hit it off after that (at least temporarily), since in 1984's TV series "The Pink Panther and Sons", the Pink Panther plays single father to two sons!
because it was my first hoilday special of the Pink Panther that I ever known.
