when The Pink Panther Classic Cartoon Collection was released last year, i remember a lot of people were disappointed that the DVD didn't include the Ant and Aardvark cartoons... but now, be disappointed no more!

for those still unsure or who have - gasp - forgotten about the show, here's a quick blip about it in a "new on DVD" review thingy i found online...

The cover boasts a large picture of the Pink Panther, but that character doesn't figure in The Pink Panther and Friends Classic Cartoon Collection: The Ant and the Aardvark Volume 5. On offer are 17 The Ant and the Aardvark cartoons made for movie theatres by the animation studio of David H. DePatie and Friz Freleng from 1969 to 1971 and later included in a syndicated Pink Panther television show. Just as Wile E. Coyote desperately chased the Road Runner in cartoons from Warner Bros., DePatie's and Freleng's old studio, so the blue aardvark with a disconcerting snout (John Byner's impression of comedian Jackie Mason) chases the laidback red ant (Byner doing Dean Martin) to a Dixieland jazz score by musicians such as Shelley Manne and Ray Brown. It's amusing despite being derivative, but a few of the cartoons retain an annoying laugh track added for the TV show.
