the Pink Panther diamond is in Scotland??

i just thought this was rather amusing...

as you may or may not know, Sir Sean Connery (of 007 fame) recently threw a party to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Edinburgh International Film Festival... there's an article about it here...

but what i thought was so amusing (and worth posting here) was this blip about midway down through the article:

In keeping with the diamond anniversary theme of the party, a special display case had been set up amongst the gallery's many priceless statues and paintings, containing a 'diamond' that looked suspiciously similar to the titular gem of the original Pink Panther film.

i don't know that i'm really going anywhere with this... i just thought it was interesting...

I am going to go up to the gallery this week to have a look and see if I can see anyone. I'll post and tell you if I think it was TPP diamond.

i think they used multiple diamonds in the Sellers films, so bear that in mind, too...

you don't think they'd let you take a picture of it to share with us, do you?? that'd be nice, if you were able to get it, but they folks in charge may not be so keen on the idea... i'm just interested to see it myself, if there's a way...

Well I was up today and guess what it wasn't there. I asked a man who worked there about a diamond and he had no idea what I was talking about. So i was quite dissapointed.
