MUMBAI: Hollywood studio MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) has signed up with Excel Home Videos for home entertainment in India.
With this move, MGM is looking at expanding its presence in the growing home entertainment market in India.
Excel Home Videos has exclusive partnerships with Walt Disney Home Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox, Merchant Ivory Production, HIT and Shringar Films. The company enjoys a 40 per cent market share in the international home video category in India.
Excel Home Video managing director M N Kapasi says, “We are looking forward to partner MGM in their cause, and also leverage our market standing with their catalogue strength and content quality.”
"Notwithstanding the rampant piracy and the entry of new players, there has been a steady and positive growth in the sector. The market has grown at rate of 25 per cent in the last three years," he adds.
MGM's movie collection comprises series such as Pink Panther, James Bond, Rocky, Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry series, World War classics among others.
