Vt. State Police arrested a Bethel man for burglary after they say the Pink Panther gave him away.
Ezra Lowe, 23, was arrested early Thursday morning. Police say Lowe broke into a home through a window and stole an iPod, flashlight, and a stuffed Pink Panther. When police went to Lowe's home, they saw the stuffed Pink Panther sitting in the front seat of Lowe's car.
Lowe was arrested for burglary and possession of stolen property. He's due in court in March.
BETHEL — A man is facing charges after allegedly stealing items from an acquaintance, among them a stuffed animal.
Police said on Jan. 10 they responded to a call from a Central Vermont Power Service worker on Camp Brook Road, saying that Justin McCoart had come running up the road asking the worker to call 911 because someone was breaking into McCoart's home.
Police met with McCoart, who told them Ezra Thomas Lowe, 23, of Bethel, had entered McCoart's home through an open window and stolen an iPod, a Maglite flashlight and a Pink Panther stuffed animal. When asked how he knew Lowe was the perpetrator, McCoart said he had gone to Lowe's home to confront him about the theft and had seen the stuffed animal in Lowe's vehicle.
Police went to Lowe's home and saw the stuffed animal in Lowe's car. Police entered Lowe's residence, and after asking him about the items in question Lowe returned an iPod, saying that McCoart must have left it behind the last time he was there.
Lowe was arrested for burglary and possession of stolen property and was released on a criminal citation to appear in Windsor District Court on March 4.
