Phantom Pictures, forgive my rudeness for not responding sooner. While copies of scripts do circulate, if they are shared before a film is released, studios tend to get quite litigious and with good reason. In this instance, a very funny film wraps shooting in the Fall of 2007 and sits on the shelf for over a year waiting for its February 2009 release date. If too many copies of the script circulate, some of the best moments can easily work their way into lesser films that are turned around quickly (think Direct to DVD fodder). Additionally, TPP06 suffered from so much bad word of mouth from test screenings, numerous reshoots, and online rants that it was better to keep things largely quiet on TPP2 until it was ready to be unveiled. Hopefully they have a huge hit on their hands and we can hope for TPP3 in 2012. Steve Martin is attached to two other films after this one so a sequel has a bit of a wait. In the meantime a couple of us from this board continue to defend the film on imdb and get labelled as studio shills for trying to be reasonable by the ignorant masses. Such is life.

I agree the original film is coming to Blu-ray in January, but I maintain it is the same edition we all know and love. There are also standard DVD reissues coming early next year with the trailer to PP2 added to the special features. I would love to be wrong about TPP63 Special Edition, but I fear that is not the case.

The only new stuff for Region 1 will be Classic Cartoon Collection Volume 7 and 8 (the rest of The Inspector and Roland and Ratfink). Volume 9 is allegedly the primetime specials (A Pink Christmas, Olympinks, and Pink at First Sight) previously released. The hour of deleted scenes with the original Panther is nothing of the kind (there aren't that many outtakes from the original film anyway). The hour of extras is THE PINK PANTHER SPECIAL EDITION, the previously released Region 1 release of the 2006 film. The press release mistakenly lists this as the original Sellers-Edwards film. This is a nice collection (minus RETURN) for anyone who doesn't have the films already. Otherwise, its not worth the price unless you collect everything. I'll be picking up THE INSPECTOR VOLUME TWO from Amazon.de if a Region 1 release is not forthcoming.

Hopefully better than the first. The script is definitely funnier, but its still the new series and not trying too hard to ape the original. So there's no disappointment, there is much less Dreyfus and Ponton this time around. The expanded cast of characters doesn't really allow for it.

No, there's The Tornado who is similar to The Phantom this time around. The Tornado's identity is not immediately tipped to audiences. It could be a corrupt criminal investigator or a not so respectable playboy millionaire as the film has plenty of both: Andy Garcia, Alfred Molina, Yuki Matsuzaki, Jeremy Irons, Johnny Halliday, or even John Cleese. It could be a woman as Panthers past had their share of duplicitious femme fatales as well as defecting detectives and posing playboys. Along with the stunning Aishwarya Rai, the new film boasts the fetching talents of Molly Sims, Judith Godreche, Zofia Borucka, the always lovely Emily Mortimer, and Lily Tomlin. About the only two cast members we can be sure are innocent are Steve Martin and Jean Reno...or can we?
For the record, I spoiled nothing and gave no hints. I merely listed the cast. See the film and find out for yourself.

Its officially THE PINK PANTHER 2. The title on the first draft of the script was THE PINK PANTHER ALWAYS RINGS TWICE just as an early title for the 2006 picture was BIRTH OF THE PINK PANTHER.

There have been no screenings. The user on IMDB is pulling everyone's leg. No theater owner turns down a screening just because they have no interest in a movie. Sony did screen a trailer at ShoWest on Monday, that is the first step taken thus far.

I like Ken Thorne's work on INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU and elsewhere. His INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU score is exceptional as it actually evokes Mancini of the period without ever directly referencing his work. By the far, the best part of this film. Pity the soundtrack album was only available on vinyl and has never been reissued. Can't say I was particularly impressed with Chris Beck. The Pink Panther Theme was overused and it times it felt like they scored the film with The Pink Panther Penthouse Party CD.

The four songs listed in TRAIL's closing credits are only quoted in the dialogue between Dreyfus and Dr. Longet. The music does not appear in the film. I should note Herbert Lom sings a version of one while walking past Julie Andrews before Edwards cuts to Joe Dunne falling down the stairs.

Sorry its been so long since I checked in. I can't see the images at work and rarely have time to check from home. Anyway, its REVENGE. That's Ed Parker's hand breaking the lock.

Well done, Yannick. Incidentally, your namesake is working on the new film as an assistant director!

Its the original PINK PANTHER. Its Romulus and Remus in the Roman museum where the Phantom is about to strike.
