on the DVD for TPP06, we see that they actually experimented with the idea of doing a CG version of the animated Panther for the film's main titles... sometime before the film's release, however, they decided to go back to the more traditional hand-drawn cartoon version with only a few CGI elements added in to fill out a few scenes (most notably, the sheet music for the PP theme song)...
my question is: in which direction do you think they should go for the next film? should they stick with what's proven? or should they go back to their experimentations with CGI in hopes of adding more 'flare' or whatever?
personally, i think the traditional hand-drawn cartoons are still the way to go... it was interesting to see the proposed CGI version from this last film, but it didn't have the laughs or the same feel to it as the earlier titles, and the traditional style just feels more 'right' to me, though that may be hard to explain... i don't have a problem with the occasional integration of CG elements, like the sheet music in the new titles, but the regular cartoon version still suits me just fine, for the most part...
what about you?

I'd say the CGI. I've never overly cared about the titles but I would like to see the CGI. I've not seen the CGI titles on the film, are they in the special features?

yeah, i know at least on the R1 DVD they play part of the CGI titles as part of the menu, but if you go into the special features, you can watch the full segment the way it would have been used for the film, minus the actual film credits...
i can't honestly say i can see how the CGI titles would have really fit the film that well, though, myself...

My nitpick with the main animated titles was that they were so short! And there was no animation at the end of the film.
The CGI one is pretty good. It's nice and long, and actually a bit enjoyable.
But for the sequel, I still want hand drawn, and this time, slightly longer. And a cartoon panther gag at the end. The 2006 remake had a huge gaping hole left in it because of that.

I agree with Brandon. The CGI version wasn't bad, and it was a longer segment, which was nice, but hand-drawn and with more gags (like the one they ended up going with the 2006 film) is the way to go. And hopefully the 2009 titles will be a little longer.
