Fran Jeffries performed songs for both TPP63 and ASITD... in TPP63, she captivated the screen with her performance of "Meglio Stasera", which translates to "It Had Better Be Tonight"... in ASITD, she was never seen on screen or even given a credit for the performance, but her performance provides the mood for the film's opening sequence, including the various goings on and subsequent murder in the Ballon household... so which performance was your favorite? personally, while i do like the song in TPP63, i don't like the fact that the whole film seemed to just stop for her performance... if the song had just been worked into the soundtrack, i think i would've liked it much better... Shadows of Paris, on the other hand, is an incredibly beautiful track, and could not have been used better, IMO, so this one gets my vote...

'Shadows' at the start of ASITD gets my vote too, Clouseau - it's an extremely sophisticated and sexy, but slightly sinister tune. Like you say, it totally set up the film to come - especially with the wonderful criss-crossing from room to room of the Ballon household's characters before the murder is committed...
