my mom was a fan of the Pink Panther films before i ever knew they existed, but she's not obsessed with them nearly as much as i am, and until recently, she didn't have any of them on DVD... my dad recently got the Steve Martin one for his birthday (not from me!), and he bought my mom the 1963 Pink Panther film on DVD a month or two ago... also, recently, they rented Return on one of those digital "by demand" channels on TV, but they do not own Return or any of the others besides the ones i listed above...
now MOm's birthday is coming up fast, and i wanted to get her a Pink Panther film for her birthday, but i don't know which one to get her... my budget won't allow me to get her the Film Collection set, so that's not an option...
should i:
A) buy her Return of the Pink Panther, even though she's seen it recently, leaving myself the option of buying her the big box set another time, even though she's already got TPP63 and would then have a duplicate copy of that one?
B) buy her A Shot in the Dark, believing this to be probably among her favorites, but ruling out for sure the idea of possibly getting the big box set down the line, and ensuring that i'll be paying for possibly two or more other Pink Panther films for her in the next year + for things like Christmas, Mother's Day, her next birthday, etc.? or...
C) just burn her copies of all the movies in the collection that she doesn't have, ruling out the idea of ever buying her a Pink Panther movie again (at least until the '08 movie comes out)?
note that whatever money left in my budget after A, B, or C would be used to buy her other things, but C would leave significantly more to spend...
it may be helpful to note that my dad, brother, and sister all have had their birthday's recently (actually, my sister's is today), and Mom's is in just over a week... i gave my dad 2 store-bought DVDs and one less substantial gift, i gave my brother a check to get whatever he wanted, and i gave my sister a board game and a less substantial gift... i have spent roughly the same amount on each birthday, and i don't want my mom's birthday gifts to make it appear that i have spent significantly more or less than what i spent on the others, regardless of what i actually give her... know what i mean?
so what do you think??
please note that i will have to make up my mind today or tomorrow, so i need suggestions quickly!
