Here is an interesting scenario: Say that PP2 grosses between 40 and 50 million here in the US, about half of the first one. But the international box office is much higher, leading to a higher total gross than the first one. Would that lead to another movie?

I have to say, I enjoyed this film much better than the first one. Martin was once again in fine form, and I liked the story better. I also thought the music was better this time around. It almost felt like a throwback to the older movies with the 60s kind of vibe that the music gave off.
Let's hope for PP3!

This is interesting, and hopeful:
Three other pictures opened in the top 10. The biggest disappointment was Steve Martin 's " The Pink Panther 2 ," which came in at No. 4 with $12 million. The first film in Columbia Pictures ' revived comedy franchise opened with $20 million in 2006 and ended up with $82 million. Despite the sequel's performance, Columbia's worldwide distribution president Rory Bruer said he "wouldn't bet against" a third film going into production.

Looks like the box office returns (12 million) was disappointing. Next weekend will be the big test. If it holds steady, then I have hope of a success film. The overseas box office will be play a huge part as well. I saw it today, and the theatre was crowded. I enjoyed it, much better than the first one.

I'm not worried about the reviews. Much of the same was said about the first one, and I enjoyed it, and it was a big hit. I'm sure this one will follow a similar pattern.
BTW, I'm drinking coffee with Sweet and Low. I love the commercials with Regis.

I'll see it the first weekend. I'm hoping for at least 20 to 25 million the first weekend. Anybody know the budget? More or less than the first?

I would like to have the first PP DVD in this set. It's suppose to have over 60 minutes of deleted scenes!

Does anybody know of a book or website that deals with the filming locations of the original films? Thanks!

Hi, I FINALLY finished The Pink Panther Gets Lucky. With a new baby, time for reading is limited. A short review: I enjoyed it, I think one of the big reasons why is because I am a big fan of PP 2006. Imaging this character in future adventures made it a good read. That being said, I was wondering if any future books are in the works? I know I still need to read the PP Just Desserts, but are more planned after that? I hope so, it's nice to see the Inspector still doing what he does best, being an idiot. But a smart one, if that's possible. RB

Would love to hear if anybody saw the trailer. I would imagine it will be out sometime this summer.

I think with reshoots, the budget grew to 80 million. I agree that the movie studio would like to make more of a profit on this one, so they reduced the budget to 60 million. The movie made 150+ million worldwide, with another 50 million on dvd. With a budget of 60 million, and if it pulls similar numbers, that is a good profit.
I think it will easily make back those numbers, if not more. Just looking at the stills from the shoot, plus from what we've been hearing about the script, I'm confident it will be superior to the first one.

Hi everybody. I found this board after looking for news about the upcoming Pink Panther sequel. I've been hooked since!
I am in my early 30s, with a wife and a new baby! 6 weeks old today. I am a big fan of the 2006 Pink Panther (sorry purists!), but I did enjoy the early films, especially A Shot In The Dark. I love Mancini, and have picked up a few of his cds.
Anxiously looking forward to the new film next year. I am currently reading "The Pink Panther Gets Lucky". Not bad, a couple of funny lines so far. I would like it much better if the book was set in France.
That is about it. I am in the science field, and a volunteer firefighter when not at work, changing diapers or at the gym.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, hope I didn't bore you too badly.....
