He certainly had a long, fulfilled life, but still hard to bear the news.
Rest in peace Mr Lom. Thanks for all the memories.

following recent viewings, I have come to appreciate "Trail of the Pink Panther" the most of the films after Mr Sellers' death, simply because it plays out as a tribute.
i used to enjoy watching "Curse..." and "Son...", but the more I discover other films of Mr Sellers, the more I feel bitter about those films poorly and selfishly trying to recreate something that can't be replaced. of course it's great that Mr Kwouk and Mr Lom are in those films, but, understandably, their performances feel uninspired, so no reason to bother with them.

revisited the forum after an absence as I heard the news of the passing of Mr Edwards
i understand what tournier is suggesting, but it doesn't have to be done in French.. rather, produce it OUTSIDE of hollywood, even as an independent, with a foreign cast.
any further Pink Panther films from Hollywood, with Steve Martin or not, is just going to be a further insult to the original series.
a similar example i can give you is the "Get Smart" film with Steve Carell that came out - that film was completely pointless. had none of the spirit or class that made the original so great. took Don Adams' spirit and made a few more bucks off it.
i think fans such as those here could make a better Pink Panther film than Hollywood.

i thought the fight withthe kids was hilarious! great nod to Cato! when the kid came up out of the bubbles, i could just picture Cato doing the same thing! Yeah, I remember seeing that and smiling for a moment remembering Cato. Then I was disappointed because I felt Cato's absence in the film.

It was some amusement for an hour and a half. Kind of like when you're browsing TV and you see a cartoon on and it's some fun to feel young again. Then you forget about it and move on.

Unfortunately there have been talks of a third film, with Steve Martin. He is apparently 'negotiating' for PP3, although I'm not sure exactly how recent those negotiations are and if that MTV article posted before me is the final word.
I've got nothing against Steve Martin as an actor. I've enjoyed his films, but it doesn't work with him. Mr Sellers is irreplacable, but for the sake of a reboot/remake... the only suggestion I have is Sasha Baron Cohen, who is a big fan of Mr Sellers himself.

Hard for me to be reasonable, but I have to go with what Clouseau said.. I wasn't as annoyed as to how the character of Dreyfus portrayed in this second film, so I guess this means Cleese did better.

Very nice thanks for the photos. I think I might send to Herbert one last time. I was going to send the slip cover for one of his books and a Panther DVD cover, and then if Herbert returns those ill send the DVD cover for Burt to sign, and then get it framed

Bringing back a very old thread, but just wondering if anyone had any successes since the last update late 2007?
Dreyfus, this is a long LONG overdue response to your question, but what I got back was a catalogue from some store which didnt have any photos just a listing of DVDs on sale, and he signed right next to a listing for Pink Panther in the catalogue.
I was thinking about maybe trying one more time to send him another one or two dvd covers, non-Pink Panther related, but I don't think its fair to him.

This article just caught my eye while I was browsing IMDB. This news must have come out a short time ago. Very sorry to hear this news, another member of the Pink Panther family lost. Rest in Peace Mr Korman and condolences to his family and friends. On a final bittersweet note, for the last two or three months I had actually been trying to get a contact address for him to send him fan mail.

No, that's not right.. Wasn't that scene from CURSE OF THE PINK PANTHER?
Sleigh goes to see Balls and sells him the disguise that "Clouseau was meant to collect on the day he disappeared". And isn't that what it is.. he goes and has a drink with the blow up doll then he is on the phone in his hotel room and forgets about the doll he was filling with gas and then a gunman comes in and shoots the doll and the whole apartment blows up..
