Co-creator of the new “Pink Panther” cartoon strip, Eric Teitelbaum, MA, is instructing a two-day workshop called “Blackboard Cartooning for Teachers” at Cal State San Marcos Extended Studies. With the animation capabilities of digital media, and the access children have to visual stimulation via television and computers, teachers have a hard act to follow in keeping their students engaged. This workshop gives educators two significant tools. First, it simplifies the art of cartooning for visual impact. Second, it outlines the role cartooning can play in motivating students, furthering storytelling and rounding out lesson plans.
The workshop fee is $99 per individual or $75 per member of school teams of three or more. Teachers are eligible to earn 1.4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for attending this 14-hour workshop. One unit of non-degree applicable Extension Credit to assist teachers in satisfying professional growth requirements is also available for an additional fee of $66, which includes a $6 transcript fee.
Designed for K-12 teachers, the workshop will meet on the Cal State San Marcos campus from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on two Saturdays, August 5 and 12. To obtain more information or to register, prospective students should contact Extended Studies at (760) 750-4020 or visit www.csusm-es.org.
