The Great Comedians - Film Series
Selected and introduced by David Schwartz, Chief Curator, Museum of the Moving Image.
In movies, comedy may be the universal language. Charlie Chaplin’s Tramp, with his surprising ingenuity and grace, was recognized, and enjoyed, by audiences around the world. The Marx Brothers’ slapstick mayhem has also proved timeless, along with their irreverent mangling of the English language. Peter Sellers as the bumbling Inspector Clouseau in the Pink Panther movies, Woody Allen as the whining and wisecracking nebbish in his early comedies, and the eternally deadpan Bill Murray, are among the modern comedians who have kept the tradition of screen laughter alive. The best thing about these classic comedies is that they truly can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. A Shot in the Dark will be shown as a part of The Great Comedians film series at Tarrytown Music Hall in Tarrytown, New York on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 7:30pm EST. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students, seniors, and children. To order tickets by phone, call TicketForce at 877-840-0457 (Monday – Friday, 10am – 6pm), or to order online, CLICK HERE.
