which character should be clouseau's sidekick in the new movie?
as much as i like cato, i thought ponton was an interesting character, so id kinda like to see him again, but i dunno if theres really anything new they can do with the character that hasnt been done before. plus if cato isnt played by burt kwouk, then im not sure he should be played by anyone at all.
then again, i dunno if jean reno would even agree to do another panther movie, either.
but i vote for ponton, just because i think he has potential.
Yeah I completely agree. Burt Kwouk is really the only Cato even though it would be interesting to see another actor try, they could never be as good. I liked Ponton as I like Jean Reno but he is a pretty big star and I don't know if he would consider appearing in a sequel to a film that never got that good reviews.
The one thing I don't want is if Jean Reno refuses to do TTP sequel, the character, ponton, is replaced by another actor.
i'm debating... on the one hand, i agree that it would be interesting to see a little more character development with Ponton, but on the other hand, maybe it would be interesting enough to see Clouseau with no sidekick at all...
i dunno... might hold my vote back for a little while until i make up my mind...
While I prefer Cato from the original series, Ponton works well with the new series. Jean Reno is returning to the role although with so many other detectives on hand, he may have reduced screen time this time around.

I think Cato and Ponton should both appear in Pink Panther 3. Cato could be introduced as Clouseau's martial arts teacher who attacks Clouseau in his home to help Clouseau with his martial arts training (like in the old Pink Panther films)
