what does everyone think about this idea to have Clouseau team up with "equally bumbling detectives" from other European countries in the sequel?? i dont like it. Clouseau is supposed to be the star of the show, but if they have other bulbling detectives im arfaid the focus wont stay on him and it could end up being one really wacked up storyline.

Are they considering this?
It doesn't sound very good. Probably just a lot of stereotypes. Ok we know hos Clouseau is supposedly a great member of the police force but they'd have to explain why allt he other detectives managed to get to where they are.

Are they considering this? it would appear so, yes... in the Variety article that ran last November, they said "Steve Martin recently delivered a script for the latest "Pink Panther," where his Inspector Clouseau teams up with equally bumbling detectives from other European countries to defeat a continent-wide crime wave." maybe it's not true, but Variety is generally pretty well on the mark when they report things... you never know, though... personally, i'm not terribly keen on the idea, but i'd have to see it played out... there could be worse things they could do...

Possibly. This may create spin-offs.

Possibly. This may create spin-offs. Oh my God. The people at MGM are only after the money...

Possibly. This may create spin-offs. Oh my God. The people at MGM are only after the money... i wanna say there's no way they'd do a Panther spin-off, but how many times have they tried to do the same thing with James Bond?? (remember the planned 'Jinx' spin-off from Die Another Day?) that's a very scary thought... somehow, i'm not so sure it's really anything they're thinking about... i'm sure if the new film does well, a lot of 'fans' are gonna suggest spin-offs, but i dunno that it'll ever get serious consideration... i hope not, at least... and i, for one, hope Sleigh's been slain as any sort of candidate for the new film!

It sounds like a weird retooling of "Inspector Clouseau" (1968) even though it obviously isn't.

I don't believe the other detective and expert characters are bumbling. Alfred Molina will be a bit of a comic foil for Steve Martin in the same vein as Dreyfus, but his character is not bumbling. Sometimes even the trades provide misinformation.

I hope Clifton Sleight doesn't appear in it. He's not a really good Clouseau.
