When I saw the new 2006 Pink Panther, I thought Steve Martian made a funny impression of the inspector! Any other opinions?
I'm just curious lol

Hey wendy. Welcome to the forum You mean Steve Martin? I liked him as Clouseau, probably because I'm generally a fan of him. I don't think it was his best performance, and I don't think he could ever have been as popular as Peter Seller's was. Still, he was quite a good choice and was entertaining.

yeah, i agree that steve martin was really good as the inspector. i hope hell get more respect when the next one comes out, and people see that its better than the last one. i really hope the new ones gonna be better than the latst one, at least. sounds like it ought to be good, with all the good cast and what ive read about the basic story and stuff.

I don't think he was bad at the part, I just think his style doesn't suit the character that Sellers played. So he changed the personality, not too much, but he did change it. It's a brave thing to play a character originated by Peter Sellers and almost everyone who tried to do it before him had to go through many bad reviews. I remember reading someone saying (was it brandon?) that he couldn't say Clouseau when he talked about Martin's portrayal of the character. Personally, I feel the same about it. But, as is the fact with everything, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I even still respect people who say that Martin is better than Sellers. But that doesn't mean it does not bring a slight tear to my eye when I realise that when the young kids of today see the 'Clouseau' character for the first time, he's NOT played by Peter, but by Steve. Anyway, as George Harrison sang, All things must pass.

I thought he was horrible, and still think he's a terrible miscast.
But others may disagree.
