I was watching this and at the main menu, there was a tune playing in the background. I had never noticed it before. Is it just a tune made up for the DVD? or was it used in a film? Does anyone happen to have it or know what its called?

i recognize the tune you're talking about, but i can't place it... i'm planning to get the soundtrack for the film in the very near future (already ordered my copy), so i'll double-check to see if it's on there, but something tells me it won't be... i don't remember hearing that tune during the film... we'll see...

I listened while watching the film and could not here it. It doesn't matter. It was a nice tune though.

well i got the soundtrack in yesterday and gave it a listen, and no, that song's not on the soundtrack at all, so i have no idea... i hate this, because the tune sounds so familiar... i wish to goodness i could remember where i'd heard it before!

Remember me, Mein Fuhrer?!? On topic... there's no music on the menu of my DVD. This is the main menu of the Return of the Pink Panther DVD we're talking about... right?

On topic... there's no music on the menu of my DVD. This is the main menu of the Return of the Pink Panther DVD we're talking about... right? yes, but there have been at least two releases of this movie on DVD, that i'm aware of, so it's just possible that the music's only on the latest release? or maybe the song's only on certain regions? i dunno... my copy is the latest R1 and has the music... i'll see if i can copy it and upload it for you to try and identify...

Closueau, What program did you use to rip the music from the cd?

actually, i didn't really rip it, per se... i just ran the DVD on the computer, and i recorded it simultaneously in an audio editing program, trimmed it down to just the part i wanted, and saved it...

well i don't know of one program that'll rip just the audio directly from a DVD, but there are a couple round-about ways to get it... 1. if you want audio from a large portion of a movie, what you'd do is use DVD Decrypter to rip the VOB files for the section of the DVD you want, and then use DVD2AVI to split the video (in AVI format) from the audio (in WAV format)... the plus side is that you don't have to sit through the section of the movie you want, but the downside is that it still may be time-consuming, depending on how large a section you're doing... 2. if you only want a few minutes or less of audio - say, from a specific scene or something - you can use an audio editing program to record it in real time... i used a professional program with the song above, but there is a freeware audio editor i have used in the past that does a good enough job, called Goldwave... if you want more specific details on one of these, PM me, and i'll be glad to go more in depth... that way we can get back to the question at hand here, which is identifying this song!
