Another one for the RotPP. The German orderly knocks me out of my boots! TPPSA is still too grotesque for me. Baroque comedy...like a comic strip. I will have to leave it for some time to ripen.

This is a really difficult one for me. I'm going to go with Return though.

Oh, come on. RETURN is GREAT, but STRIKES AGAIN is when the series reached its peak. When hilarity was the codename for laughter in this series. The series' most enduring entry, and its funniest, too. And Sellers' defining Clouseau accent, too.
Also, the best title sequence, best Kato fight, best Dreyfus performance and favorite finale.
As far as I am concerned, if this was the last entry (well, this or REVENGE), I would be a happy man, with a series of complete comedy masterpieces, to enjoy as a fanboy. Instead, we got TRAIL, CURSE, SON and the abomination that bears the title of the original - the 2006 travesty re-imagining.
Oh, well.. RETURN is great, too. Almost as great. But sometimes it takes itself too seriously, and there isn't enough Clouseau in it. SHOT and STRIKES AGAIN had a fair share, you know...

Clouseau, you surprised me when you said CURSE over 2006, but 2006 over CURSE. I always thought CURSE was the worst one of the old series, and even though I have it above 2006, I still place SON above it.
How is CURSE better than SON, exactly? Interested to know...

CURSE>2006, but 2006>SON.
I consider SON to be far superior to CURSE.
Whats your opinion?
He said Curse was better than IC, and TPP06 was better than Son.

So after that round it is 4 votes to Return and 2 votes to Strikes Again. So Return of the Pink Panther (1975) goes through.
Round 5
A Shot in the Dark (1964)
Vs
The Pink Panther (1963)

well while i enjoy both films, and TPP63 definitely deserves some credit for getting the whole thing started, A Shot in the Dark gets my vote easily...

that's interesting, since you ranked ASITD higher than TPP63 in the "Best PP Film" thread...

A SHOT IN THE DARK. By far, the objectively best movie of the series - and Peter Sellers' best performance as Inspector Clouseau. One of the best performances in film history, in fact.
And Clouseau, just two pages ago, you chose CURSE over 2006 TRAVESTY. Right?
