Thanks for all the positive feedback, everyone! Sorry 'bout that pinkadilly UPDATE Yeah, you've probably guessed by now that we're a little of track... Don't worry, though, it's nearly done Expect a trailer in a few days time - and the novelization! The Pink Panther, History ( Part Un )Well, where to start...
It's been awhile, but I'm still pretty sure that the idea for our own Panther film came about in our Drama class – We were slipping our coats on at the end of the lesson – obviously – when I turned to Lewis (That's Dreyfus, by the way) and asked for his thoughts on a comedy, my favoured genre, about the efforts of an inept police officer, Clouseau, to catch a notorious jewel thief – You know, the one that leaves a glove at the scene of every crime – before he struck again!
He liked the sound of it. “Yeah, I'll do it.”
It was that simple.
Producing the film, on the other hand...
The script, for a start. The first one – we've got a never ending catalogue of them – was not written by me.
I had tried, but they never seemed to go anywhere - which is why I asked Lewis. Again.
He was more than happy to help and agreed there and then.
It was actually pretty funny with some good Clouseau / Dreyfus banter, as well.
It started with a world renowned sportsman - that Clouseau had never heard of - being murdered!
Sound familiar?
His priceless ring - See where I'm going with this?
... At last, we were ready to go!
“Right, let's shoot it!” (Something to that extent, anyway...)
To start with, we were using a DVR410 - With 8X digital zoom! (...)
Alas, it didn't turn out quite how we'd hoped...
I mean, it was this bad...
We needed a better camera, pronto...
In a nutshell ( unless your allergic ) that was it - production came to a standstill...
It wasn't until last year ( Summer, I think ) that I was raking through my cupboard when I came across something that astounded me - my jaw dropped.
A camcorder.
Prior to that, I'd made the decision to have another go at writing my own material for Pink Panther. And it payed of.
A dozen drafts later, here we are.
Finally, everything was falling into place.Pink Panther, History ( Part Deux ) coming soon - just like the film!

Novelization
Chapter One, A Prelude to Madness
Chief Inspector Charles Dreyfus sat in his large, well appointed office. And he deserved this comfort, did he not? Having exerted himself many times for the great nation of France, Dreyfus had earned the privileges of rank. Many of the other contenders for his position had fallen by the wayside, yet he had prospered. Those fools were still but mere Gendarmes.
He smiled.
Francois, Dreyfus' lapdog and private secretary, walked into the room in an upright, pompous manner that could have rivaled Dreyfus' stride.
"Here is this morning's mail and you have an appointment with the Minister of Justice at 1 o'clock," Francois declared.
Charles Dreyfus skimmed through the envelopes at a swift pace. As he proceeded he stated the importance of each letter as he went.
"Crap... Crap... Crap... Crap..."
Near to the end of the pile he found one that perked his interest and he licked his lips:
"Madam Chairman... Personal and Confidential."
The final piece of mail forced the smile from his face:
"My wife. Filing for divorce."
Francois stared at him with his round, expressionless face. The final comment had had no effect on him. As a matter of fact, he had expected such a thing. Dreyfus had a variety of mistresses to entertain himself with; this must have been a terrible strain on his marriage. The secretary left the room in a quiet, unobtrusive manner. He sat down at his own desk just outside the Chief Inspector's door. It was barely half the size of Dreyfus'.
To be honest, he was somewhat resentful of his superior. Francois had been an intelligent young Gendarme with a bright future. He had attained the rank of Sergeant and was ready to become a detective. His old boss, Fournier, and himself had been working on the Louis Philippe case together.
It ended in tragedy after an unfortunate incident between the pair in the back of a car. A moving car.
Now he was stuck behind a typewriter, albeit within the HQ of the Police Nationale. His little office (Matchbox, more like) was absolutely spotless and everything was in its place. He grinned at his administrative utopia and after straighting a pencil on his desk he began to type. There was a huge pile of paperwork to the left of his typewriter and he knew with complete certainty that it was going to be a very long day...

That was an interesting trailer.
I had a little trouble following what was supposed to be going on, though.

That was an interesting trailer. I had a little trouble following what was supposed to be going on, though. Yeah, we made it up as we went - totally improvised Dreyfus and his assistant were following an escaped convict (which is why Francois was a little worried that he could be armed... and dangerous) when he decided to call for help. Clouseau. I guess he thought that the Inspector would do a better job - or wind up in hospital We did shoot more - only that wasn't as funny as this lol So anyway, what do you guys think of Lewis' Dreyfus? Francois? UPDATEThe Pink Panther... will be W I D E S C R E E N

Did you shoot it that way? or did are you cropping the image down from Full Screen to make it wide? We're cropping the image with Virtual Dub. Anything in the future will be shot in widescreen 16:9 though UPDATEThis week looks to be fairly promising. - We've got another office -- It'll double as Clouseau's.
- We're going to Edinburgh Now that the Festival has started I don't think we'll look too out of place in our moustaches lol
Any more thoughts..?
