Hi. Recently saw the feature length biopic style film on the life, and eventually death of the Panther legend, starring Geoffrey Rush. Though excellently done, he lived a traumatic and obscure live that at times comes across a little too vividly. Anyone else seen and enjoyed this?

since this isn't really a "Pink Panther film", but it's about Peter Sellers, i've moved it to the Pink Personnel section... i had a thread asking about this film before, but i like the way this one's presented more, so i'll lock mine and discussion can continue here... my comments, from the other thread:

Not yet. They didn't have it at the library/video store, so I guess I might actually have to buy it! Will let you know what I think of it if/when I eventually see it.

I liked its style, and Geoffrey Rush as Sellers. But the film as a whole is very a gossip's tale.
Roger Lewis hates Peter Sellers. The biography was no more an attempt to pinpoint Sellers' worst attributes.
There are many biographies out there for Sellers, that are far more accurate than this.
I especially hated how they portrayed the relationship between Blake Edwards and Sellers. That relationship alone would make for a wonderful movie, instead they wrote Edwards into a jerk and made Sellers the victim and so forth.
Really, the film is an abomination, worth only to see Sellers again, even if played by Rush.
I don't recommend it.

In all honesty, its not really accurate - nor perspective. And its the scripts fault really, I liked the direction, and how they had Sellers pretending his fellow friends-workers-mom to tell the story. But aside from that, the film is not really representative of Sellers' personality.
I've read a mirriad of different Sellers novels, and its true...

What I want to know is if there is footage of Sellers being Sellers. I keep reading that Rush did a great job portraying Sellers, but I can't be sure. I don't dispute Rush's talent-he made the character believable, but I found his Clouseau stiff and forced. I've also read that some of those scenes, particularly his berating of Edwards publicy, never happened in real life. Enjoyable though.

Geoffrey Rush is probably our greatest living actor.
Sellers was a very deep and sad person; it's heartbreaking that he brought such joy to so many viewers, but in most every biography I find, never was happy himself.

Geoffrey Rush is probably our greatest living actor. After Christopher Walken, Christopher Lee and Roger Moore of course ;D
