after Peter Sellers died, rather than finding a new actor to play Jacques Clouseau, producers decided to invent a new character to replace him... of course, neither one did well enough to stick, but in your opinion, which one did the best job? i vote for Roberto Benigni... Wass just got on my nerves... i'm not saying that Benigni did a fantastic job, either, but i just liked him better... that accent was hideous, though!

The only reason I say Ted Wass is because I'm not really a fan of SOTPP. The only good thing about it was Herbert Lom.

I say Roberto Benigni. The film may be mediocre (I still like it), but Benigni is always fun to watch. And he clearly had a lot of fun doing this film.
Ted Wass was one TERRIBLE miscast on the role. I say, if Rowan Atkinson had been Clifton Sleigh, the film would've been quite a lot funnier...

Roberto Benigni hands down, i think the other dudes film didnt leave as much to be desired to another film, but i still would like to see another son film... maybe even daughter film.

Definitely Roberto Benigni. Although I don't like everything that happens in the film he appears in, I think it was a great idea for Clouseau to have a son. I didn't really care for Ted Wass's Clifton Sleigh character. He was okay, but I didn't find him all that likeable; he acted very annoying.

Plus, Ted Wass himself didn't seem very comfortable doing the film. You MAY say that it added to the character's tension, but I dunno... It just didn't seem very fun for him a film to do.
And he said so, apparently.
